Reading is the complex cognitive process of decoding symbols to derive meaning. Sometimes text or images are in relief, with or without using a color contrast. Words or images can be carved in stone, wood, or metal, instructions can be printed in relief on the plastic housing of a home appliance, or myriad other examples.

Reading is typically an individual activity, though on occasion a person reads out loud for other listeners. In the context of school or work, reading is a means of learning necessary information. Reading to young children is a recommended way to instill language and expression, and to promote comprehension of text.

Capito is a little kid wearing a tailor-made suit. It is vivid, playful and full of ideas, yet can be convenient and calm at the right time.

It originates from experimenting with the different angles of a broad-nibbed pen in order to find the right form for a sturdy and readable serif typeface. As a result, Capito has a slightly reversed contrast that emphasizes its horizontal flow, while preserving the character and readability of classical serif letters.

Capito would be a natural fit for books and magazines, but could be used for every imaginable task in which a lively seriousness is desired.

Capito is a typeface in progress – It is not yet finished, it will be further developed, but it is ready to use right now. If you buy a license, you get all further updates for free. The current version 0.4 (June 2023) adds 185 new characters, including many figures, arrows and symbols.
